Early Pregnancy Class
You feel so excited to be pregnant! And maybe a little sick? Your provider usually isn't ready to see you until you're 12 weeks -- if you even know what provider you want! What do you do until then? Try this Early Pregnancy Class. Topics addressed are: feeling good, exercise and fitness, sexual health, choosing a provider/place of birth, and more.
Who takes this class? Most often first-time parents sign up for the EPC class, but those families who experience a large space of time between pregnancies also enjoy the information presented. Early Pregnancy Class: 2 hours/$150 |
Get Smart Baby! Lamaze Childbirth Class
SOLVING A PROBLEM
Get Smart, Baby! is your solution to the modern childbirth education crisis! What's the crisis, you might ask?
ENTER GET SMART, BABY!
TOPICS COVERED ARE...?
GET SMART, BABY! is appropriate whether you are birthing in a forest surrounded by baby deer and a midwife, or you are having a planned cesarean birth in the hospital -- and everything in between. I fully trust your choices as it is your birth, after all! Combine forces with friends who also need a childbirth class and we make it a group plus knock off some of that class fee. If there are two pregnant people, you each pay $250; three pregnant people, you each pay $225. Comprehensive class: 4 hours/$275 |
BREASTFEEDING CLASS
In this 2-hour class your questions are always answered, and we discuss the traditional aspects of breastfeeding (different holds, frequency, etc.), as well as look into the ways biological nursing can be an easy alternative for both parent and baby. Other topics covered include:
Most of this information is included in my Lamaze Childbirth Education; doula clients receive some of this information as part of our prenatal visits. This class can also be extended into a 3-hour session that satisfies the DONA-certification requirements for new doulas. Breastfeeding Class: 2 hours/$150 |
BIRTH PLAN BRAINSTORM
You need to know your options in a non-biased, organized way to apply them to your beliefs and situation. A birth plan can help you format your ideas and goals into a readable, understandable tool to share with your birth team. Included in this session are ways to communicate with your care giver, non-traditional birth plan ideas, and strategies to make your birth plan engaging, increasing odds it will be honored. This session provides a multi-pronged approach:
Birth Plan Brainstorm takes about 2 hours of in-person time, plus the communication required to polish up your final product. Birth Plan Brainstorm: 2 hours/$150 |
BELLYCASTING
Bellycasting is a way to remember your beautiful baby belly! Often families hang them in the baby's nursery, and they enjoy taking pictures of their new baby laying inside the cast -- to see their little one's first home. I come to your house with all the supplies needed to cast your breasts and belly. I can offer suggestions on how to further preserve and hang your cast. This can be fun for the whole family, and it is also a great baby shower activity (modest means can be taken if mom wishes others to help in this project). Mom, or any resident artist, can decorate the cast, or it can be left as it is.
A session lasts about 60 minutes. The only thing you provide is an impressive belly, and perhaps a few helping hands, if you wish (although not necessary). Belly casts are best done close to the due date, between 8 and 9 months. Bellycasting: $150 |
