When breastfeeding is your goal, you need a solid plan. Sometimes breastfeeding goes smoothly, without any trips or traps. Other times we need practical help, resources, and guidance to get to our goal. I have the education and hands-on experience to help.

FREE BREASTFEEDING HELP

Picture
As an accredited La Leche League Leader I am a peer breastfeeding counselor who offers free phone, email, and text help to parents who wish to breastfeed. In this role, it is important to understand I strive to help you immediately. Sometimes as a volunteer this is not possible. In situations where I am unavailable, I can offer you the information of another volunteer breastfeeding counselor who can help. If the issues you face are out of my scope, I can refer you to an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) to ensure you receive the best, hands-on assessment and evaluation for your unique experience.

BREASTFEEDING CLASS

Picture
I offer a 2-hour class where your questions are always answered, and we discuss the traditional aspects of breastfeeding (different holds, frequency, etc.,) and we also look into the ways biological nursing can be an easy alternative for both mom and baby.  Other topics covered include:
  • How milk is made
  • How to nurse comfortably
  • Positioning at the breast, including laid-back breastfeeding
  • Learning what’s normal and what needs attention
  • Common myths of breastfeeding
  • Breastfeeding resources and referrals

Doula clients receive much of this information as part of our prenatal visits. This class can also be extended into a 3-hour session that satisfies the DONA-certification requirements for new doulas.

Breastfeeding Class:  $100

HOME-SWEET-HOME VISIT

Picture
Sometimes you just want the comfort of a professional's help to ensure everything is going well. That's the Home-Sweet-Home visit! I come to you, answer any questions you may have about baby, feeding, sleeping, diapering -- all those little things you are dealing with now that your baby's here! Some families prefer to have this visit close to the time they bring their babies home -- that can be arranged, even if you are discharged from the hospital in the evening. Whatever you need, let's arrange it! For about 2 hours, I will help with whatever you need related to your new baby, providing a calm, experienced presence to help you feel secure and confident. This makes a great gift for a new family! Contact me for more information.

Home-Sweet-Home Visit: $100

Tongue tie check-in

Picture
Learning your baby has a tongue tie can be a relief if it explains your feeding issues, and it can be overwhelming as you learn what goes into getting things back on track. A release alone usually doesn't fix the struggle -- many families continue to cope with the challenges for days and even weeks after treatment. My experience as a Certified Breastfeeding Counselor AND the parent of two tongue-tied kiddos provides resources, ideas, support, and encouragement as you work on your journey through "Tie-land".

Tongue-Tie Check-In: $100
